What about your environment
The concrete manufacturing industry is a large producer of carbon dioxide. This comes from the breakdown of limestone and the amount of heat used in the process.
Worldwide, the cement industry is responsible for about 5% of anthropogenic CO2 emissions and approaching 2% of UK emissions. Additionally the energy used is mainly (82.5%) from fossil fuels, coal, coke and petroleum coke, and a further 11% from electricity.
During the manufacture of clay tiles a great deal of energy is expended during their firing, which again creates large amounts of CO2 emissions.
Adopting the Aquashield process can avoid the need re-roof keeping all the existing timber, which means the battens are retained and not replaced by timber treated with noxious and harmful chemicals used in the timber treatment, our environment wins again.
By renovating the roof we effectively recycle the tiles in situ. Where all the tiles are replaced, the old tiles are just consigned to land fill sites increasing waste disposal problems. Our alternative process offers considerable environmental gains.
